What can I do for you?
My name is Mary Larson and I am the Sole Proprietor of Sew Knotty Leather Alterations & Repair. This shop is the culmination of trying to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up. Over the years I've done lots of crafting of various sorts, quilting, purse-making, curtains--you name it--and even though I enjoyed it all, I couldn't see myself making a living at it until now.
If I had five dollars for every time I've heard this question I'd be in a different tax bracket. Seriously, I am asked this question a lot. My answer is, "I learned to sew from my grandmother, my mom, and a really good Home Ec teacher." This may give you an idea of how old I am because they don't call it Home Ec anymore but it doesn't

My answer is, "I learned to sew from my grandmother, my mom, and a really good Home Ec teacher." This may give you an idea of how old I am because they don't call it Home Ec anymore but it doesn't change the fact I had some good teachers and I've been sewing for a long time. A few years ago, I worked with a lawn and garden company designing and sewing product for them. A couple years ago, I got a job as a seamstress/leather artisan with a motorcycle dealership and found I have a knack for this line of business. I just may have found my niche!
I will take the time with you to determine your wants and needs. I will give you your options to the best of my knowledge and ability. You can count on me to be honest with you--there are things I will have reservations about. I don't promise things that I don't believe I can deliver. I try to give estimates in good faith and not dev
I will take the time with you to determine your wants and needs. I will give you your options to the best of my knowledge and ability. You can count on me to be honest with you--there are things I will have reservations about. I don't promise things that I don't believe I can deliver. I try to give estimates in good faith and not deviate too much from that estimate. Most of all, I will do a good job!
Remember that beautiful, expensive leather coat that is hanging in your closet? Do you remember why you don't wear it anymore? I can replace broken zippers, snaps, and eyelets. I can also fix torn linings and ripped seams. There are many times where zippers can be repaired--sparing you the expense of a total replacement. There are all kinds of things I can do to restore your leather garment so it can be worn once again!
Ah, the motorcycle vest! If there was ever a way to express your personality, this is it! Whether you have that small event patch or a handful of patches that have been collected over the years, I can sew them on for you. As a bonus, bring those patches in and I will help you place them! It's OK if you don't know what you want--there's no right or wrong here. This is your story and I will help you tell it. I typically open the lining of your garment and sew between the layers and close it back up. I can sew patches down to the lining, if you prefer-- it's your vest (and your story) after all!
I can repair or make new covers for motorcycle and ATV seats--replacing the worn cover, fixing that torn seam, and, in some cases, giving a stock seat a whole new look!
